Herniated Disc Treatment in Dubai
Can a Chiropractor Help a Herniated Disc?
“Herniated Disc Treatment”
Within minutes, most people have searched Google. Some are convinced they’ll need surgery. Others have been told never to bend again. Many become afraid to exercise, lift their children or even go for a walk. Yet one of the first things we explain at ONE Chiropractic Studio is this:
A scan doesn’t treat a person.
We’ve cared for alot of patients with disc herniations from large disc herniations who had very little pain, while others with a relatively small bulging disc struggled to stand upright. The MRI is only one piece of the puzzle but the more important questions are:
Why do you have the disc issue? Why is your disc causing symptoms, and what can we do about it?
On this page we will explore some of the more common questions we hear in our Dubai clinic from our patients that have herniated discs.
What Is a Herniated Disc?
Between each bone in your spine sits a disc that acts like a shock absorber. Sometimes the outer fibres of the disc weaken and part of the inner material pushes outward. Depending on the size and location, this may be described as a:
- bulging disc
- slipped disc
- prolapsed disc
- herniated disc
Although these terms are often used interchangeably, they don’t always describe exactly the same thing. Many people are surprised to learn that disc bulges become increasingly common as we age. In fact, many people have them without experiencing any pain at all. Pain usually develops when the disc irritates nearby joints, inflames surrounding tissues or places pressure on a nerve.
Can a Chiropractor Help a Herniated Disc?
In many cases, yes. The goal is not to “push the disc back in.” That’s a common myth. Instead, chiropractic care aims to improve the way the spine moves, reduce abnormal mechanical stress, ease irritation around affected nerves and help your body create the best environment for healing.
For many patients, this leads to reduced pain, improved mobility and a gradual return to normal life. Every case is different, however. Some disc herniations require co-management with medical specialists, imaging or, in rare situations, surgery. That’s why a detailed examination always comes before treatment.

Can a Chiropractor Fix a Herniated Disc?
The word fix is where many websites become misleading. A chiropractor or a physio cannot magically erase a damaged disc during one adjustment. What we often see instead is something far more encouraging. As spinal function improves, posture improves and inflammation settles, many patients find they can move more comfortably, sleep better, return to work and gradually resume the activities they love.
Over time, the body is remarkably good at healing. Research has shown that many herniated discs naturally shrink or resorb over the months following injury. Our role is to help the body function as well as possible throughout that process.
Chiropractor for a Bulging Disc
If you’ve been searching for a chiropractor for a bulging disc, the first step is understanding whether the disc is actually responsible for your symptoms. A bulging disc seen on MRI doesn’t always cause pain. Likewise, severe pain doesn’t always mean the bulge is severe.
That’s why we perform a thorough neurological and orthopaedic examination before deciding whether chiropractic care is appropriate. When it is, chiropractic or physiotherapy may include:
- gentle chiropractic adjustments where clinically appropriate
- spinal mobilisation
- soft tissue therapy, such as lymphatic drainage or cupping therapy
- movement advice
- rehabilitation exercises
- postural guidance
The aim isn’t simply to reduce today’s pain. It’s to help your spine cope better with tomorrow’s demands.

Does Chiropractic Help a Slipped Disc?
For many people, yes. A slipped disc chiropractor focuses on improving the mechanics of the spine rather than simply masking symptoms. When surrounding joints move more freely and muscles begin working more efficiently, many patients notice reduced pressure, less stiffness and improved confidence in movement.
Recovery rarely follows a perfectly straight line. Some days feel better than others. The important thing is seeing steady progress over time rather than chasing overnight miracles.

L4 L5 Disc Bulge: Why Is It So Common?
The L4 L5 disc bulge is one of the most common spinal findings because this part of the lower back absorbs enormous forces every day. Whether you’re lifting a child, sitting at a desk, driving across Dubai or playing sport, the lower lumbar spine works incredibly hard.
Symptoms may include:
- lower back pain
- pain travelling into the buttock
- sciatica
- numbness or tingling
- weakness in the leg
- difficulty standing upright
The good news is that many people recover well with conservative care, particularly when chiropractic sessions begin early.
How to Heal a Bulging Disc Naturally
There isn’t a single exercise or stretch that fixes every disc problem. Discs can protrude in different directions so the exercises should be specific to the person. Successful recovery usually combines several important factors. Keep moving where possible. Long periods of bed rest are now known to slow recovery for most people.
Restore healthy spinal movement through precise chiropractic adjustments when indicated. Gradually rebuild strength and confidence with targeted rehabilitation. Sleep well, manage stress and maintain healthy daily movement, as these all influence how your body heals. Most importantly, avoid becoming frightened by your MRI. Your scan tells us what your spine looks like. It doesn’t tell us what your future will be.
Herniated Disc Treatment at ONE Chiropractic Studio
At ONE Chiropractic Studio. We treat people. Some patients arrive barely able to stand upright. We have had many that had to be carried in. Others simply want to return to golf, CrossFit or playing with their children without worrying every time they bend over.
Our role is to understand why your symptoms developed, identify whether chiropractic care is appropriate and create a plan that’s tailored to your goals. Sometimes that involves chiropractic care alone. Sometimes we combine chiropractic with physiotherapy and rehabilitation. We also see many patients with related spinal conditions, such as scoliosis.
And when we believe another healthcare professional is better placed to help, we’ll tell you. Because great healthcare is about helping you get your life back.

Frequently Asked Questions About Scoliosis
Can a chiropractor help with a bulging disc?
Yes, many people with bulging discs respond well to chiropractic care when the condition is appropriate for conservative treatment. A thorough examination is essential to determine the safest and most effective approach.
Can a chiropractor fix a herniated disc?
Not in the sense of instantly repairing the disc. Chiropractic care aims to improve spinal function, reduce mechanical stress and support the body’s natural healing process, allowing many patients to experience significant improvements over time.
Does chiropractic help a slipped disc?
For many patients it does. Treatment focuses on restoring movement, reducing irritation around affected nerves and improving the way the spine functions, rather than simply masking symptoms.
Is surgery always needed for a herniated disc?
No. Most people with a herniated disc improve with conservative treatment and do not require surgery. Surgery is usually reserved for specific situations, such as progressive neurological deficits, severe weakness or when symptoms fail to improve despite appropriate care.
How long does a herniated disc take to heal?
Recovery varies from person to person. Many patients begin noticing improvement within weeks, while complete recovery may take several months depending on the severity of the injury, overall health and adherence to the treatment plan.
